Police are searching for a 13-year-old male suspect in connection with a shooting that injured an 18-year-old relative in Woodbridge. The incident, which occurred on Monday, May 13, at a residence in the 13400 block of Cannongate Drive, is believed to have stemmed from an argument, according to the Prince William County Police Department.
Responding officers arrived at approximately 7:51 p.m. and located the 18-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Further investigation revealed that the victim and the juvenile suspect, both residents of the home, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated when the 13-year-old produced a handgun and shot the victim.
The suspect fled the scene before police arrived and has not yet been located. Detectives have obtained juvenile petitions charging the 13-year-old with aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. The police department has not publicly released the suspect's name due to his age.
