A 5-year-old Virginia girl, previously reported missing, was found deceased near Pawleys Island, South Carolina, leading to the arrest of her parents. The parents, from Prince William County, Virginia, are facing charges related to their daughter's death.
According to reports, the child was found deceased on Saturday, June 22, in a wooded area off U.S. 17 near Pawleys Island. Her parents, Merrisa Anderson and Travis Turner, had reported her missing on Friday, June 21, claiming she disappeared from a hotel in Georgetown, South Carolina.
Authorities, however, stated that evidence contradicted the parents' account. The parents were subsequently charged with unlawful neglect of a child. The cause of the child's death has not yet been publicly released, pending an autopsy. The investigation is ongoing, involving multiple agencies across state lines.
